Virtual reality goggles are finding their way into classrooms.

Based at the University of the Virgin Islands, the Virgin Islands Institute for STEM Education Research and Practice (VI-ISERP, or the STEM Institute), offers a summer professional development opportunity for in-service teachers who teach grades 6–12.

Project-based Learning
Technology Integration
STEM content-related training
Creation of new lesson plans
Leadership and professional development

 

Participation

In order to best support teachers engaged in practice with VI-ISERP, facilitators of the two-week summer institute express that participants will actively participate in workshop sessions – we will practice active learning!

Stipends will be distributed based upon attendance and completion of products. The rate of compensation is $100 for each full day, and $50 for each half day. Stipends are available for US residents or permanent citizens; however, all teachers are encouraged to apply.

*PLEASE NOTE: children are not permitted at the workshop or on UVI campus. Participants must make appropriate arrangements for their child for the duration of the workshop.
